While I was browsing my Facebook page, I came across the extremely sad story that Pianissima, a cornerstone mare of the Arabian breed, had suddenly passed away. While I never got to see the mare show in real life, I had pictures of her on my walls when I was a child, including a full magazine fold-out advertisement. Stuart Vesty, an extremely well-known photographer in the industry, stated that she will forever go down as one of the most beautiful Arabian mares the world has ever seen.
Background
Pianissima was by Gazal al Shaqab, out of the Polish mare Pianosa. She was a half-sibling to the great stallion Marwan al Shaqab. During the span of 2005-2007 she was leased to Aria Arabians in the United States to be trained under Greg Gallun. She briefly returned to Poland, only to come back to the states in 2009. Her offspring have been extremely successful, with just an embryo selling for $214,237.

Pianissima was suddenly gone too soon, at only the age of 12. She was the future of the Arabian breed, with her extensive show record and successful offspring being only part of her charm. She will be missed by all those who had the opportunity to be part of her life.
