A Star Is Born

On May 22 of 1979, one of the greatest producing stallions ever was born. Brass was a product of the second to last foal crop of the great *Bask. It was evident that Brass was going to be a star from the second anyone laid eyes on him. He was considered the standout foal of the bunch, possibly due to his extreme resemblance to his father. Many impressive horsemen were intrigued by the foal’s beautiful quality and extreme athleticism, even without knowing his bloodlines.

Furthering His Career

Brass was successfully shown for a handful of years, earning many high titles. In 1986 he received the Reserve Championship in Arabian English Pleasure, and in 1990, he earned a Reserve Championship in Scottsdale in Arabian Pleasure Driving AOTD. However, a sudden lameness ruined his chances of ever being shown again. As luck would have it, the Ames family in Minnesota had just lost their prized breeding stallions, Taask, who just so happened to be a full brother to Brass. In their search for Taask’s replacement, the family happened across Brass. It was love at first sight, and a deal was signed to make Brass part of the Cedar Ridge breeding program. In the early months of 1989, Brass traveled to his new home in Jordan, Minnesota.

Hall Of Fame

Through standing at Cedar Ridge, Brass became a leading sire of national winners in both performance and halter. He also became a leader of MAHB Fall Festival winners, and is currently the all-time leading sire of Fall Fest performance champions. In 2008, the 27th year of the MAHB Fall Festival, Brass was inducted into the Minnesota Medallion Stallion Hall of Fame.

More Info

For more information on Brass, his show ring career, or his pedigree, please visit his profile on Cedar Ridge’s website. For more information on other Medallion Stallion Hall of Famers, please visit the Fall Festival website.

Author’s Note: The reason I chose Brass to be my stallion biography is because he is the sire of my wonder horse, PR Aragorn. Brass passed on not only his attractive looks, but also his athleticism and success to his offspring.
